The four capacaties are to enable each child or young person to be a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor.
We use all these skills at college, for example we become successful learners in every class because we have openness to thinking and new ideas, use technology for learning and think creatively and independently.
In our special effects class we become confident individuals as we acheive success in different areas of work, we work independently and think on our own and we are motivated to work harder by new things and ideas.
We become responsible citizens in our hairdressing class because we are working with electricritity and it makes us more aware of things and people around us.
We become effective contributers in all classes, in our essensial skills class we create and develop our blogs and learn to think on our own. We also use it in our special effects and character makeup classes because we have to rely on ourselves to take in our research and we have to learn to have more creative thinking to create better and different looks every week.
So far i have had a very good experience in college, i think my course is interesting and exciting and i look forward to the rest of the year.

Halloween looks
The 3 Halloween looks i have chosen are, a skull facepaint, a tiger, and a scary rag doll.
The First look is this skull,
The First look is this skull,
I recreated this look in my character makeup class using the aqua colour face paint palet and face painting brushes and sponges. First i drew around the eyes in black facepaint with a thin face painting brush and filled it in with a larger brush. I then drew on the lines on the cheek bones with a eyeliner pencil and coloured the rest of the face with a sponge using the white facepaint being careful not to smudge any of the black, i then painted over the black pencil lines with the black facepaint and shaded it down with a sponge to blend in with the white. I waited on all the face paints to dry and added on the spider webs, the stitch lines and the rest of the detail with a thin face painting brush. This is my version of the look:
The Tiger
I would recreate this look using aqua colour face paints of grease paints. I would use a white base on the whole face and eyebrows and wait on it to dry, i would then use the light brown paint and blend/fade it into the white where needed. I would use dark brown and light brown to make the tiger print, and use black paint for the nose, lips, dots around the mouth and the shading under the eyes.
Scary rag doll
I would use face paints and grease paints to recreate this look. I would use a white base over the face and lips and let it dry. I would then colour the eyebrows with black paints and draw on the lips and lines and fill the lips in with red. I would shade around the eys with orange grease paints and fade it into the white, i would draw black lines with face paint coming from the eyes out to the edge of the orange colour.
Wigs
Wigs can be made from horsehair, human hair, wool, feathers, yak hair, buffalo hair, or synthetic materials. They are used for many different reasons like in tv, film and theatre.
Egyptian Wigs
The first wigs were in egypt, the most expensive wigs were made from human hair, but they could also be made from wool or palm leaf fibers or even pure silver. Most egyptians chose to shave their head and wear wigs as it was easier for them to keep clean. Although all classes wore wigs, only the noble and upper class women could wear long wigs made from 3 parts which were called a "goddress". The upper class women would often have several large decorative wigs in different styles.
Ancient Greek and Roman wigs
The wealthy people would crown their wigs with wreaths of flowers or with diadems of silver and gold. Greek actors would wear wigs that the color and style gestured toward the nature of the character they were playing. During livias reign that hairstyles became more elaborate and wigs more popular. Some used different wigs to disguise themselves in battle and some wore wigs to hide their baldness.
Modern wigs
the popularity of wigs fell, and made a slight comeback in 1915 when the hair stylist carita designed wigs for models at paris fashion week. Wigs are now made for medical reason, fashion reasons and for television and film and they continue to be a big business.

Fantasy Makeup Looks
My first fantasy makeup look is a mermaid for 'Pirates Of The Caribbean'
I could recreate this look by covering the face in white/silver face paint as a base and build it up until its shiny looking, i would also cover the lips and eyebrows.
My Second look is the mad hatter from 'Alice in wonderland'(2010)This look is very bright and colorful, i could recreate this look by using white face paint base, going around the eyes with pink face paint or eye shadow and blue eye shadow for the eyelids and white mascara. I would use bright pink lipstick for the lips and pink face paint for the pink cheeks.

Makeup History
Egyptian Makeup
The Egyptian men and women both wore makeup, they used it for both cosmetic and medical reasons. It was used just to make the eyes more defined.
The eye makeup they used was called Kohl, the Egyptian Physicians prescribed kohl to help prevent eye diseases, the kohl was made from galena which had disinfectant qualities. It shielded their eyes against the sun and was a deterrent to flies. It was also used for religious, magical and traditional reasons.
The Green eye makeup was made from the green pigment called malachite, it was crushed then used as eye makeup.
The cheek and lip makeup was made from the pigment red ochre made from naturally tinted clay, it has also been used since prehistoric times. It was mined from the ground, washed then dried in the sun or sometimes burned to enhance the natural colour. It was used to stain their lips and cheeks.
The nail polish and hair color was made from a form of henna. Its a dye from the leaves and shoots of the henna shrub, they henna leaves are dried, ground and sifted then made into a paste with water. It was then used to dye and stain their nails.
